Delayed

Dear self,

Today is June 14th, 2011. Time is 5:05PM EST time zone. Location is Ontario, Canada, on the planet Earth.

The world was supposed to end on May 21st, 2011, according to Harold Camping. Considering that I've delayed in writing a letter to myself for 24 days, I'm pretty sure I haven't been raptured or destroyed or been caught up in the apocalypse of the world. However, it seems that Camping was mistaken: the world, as we know it, will be destroyed/raptured/thrown into the apocalypse on October 21st of this year.

Another mistake.

From what I've learned and read of the Holy Bible: there is no rapture. Perhaps some believe it to be so, but that is their interpretation of the Holy Word of God. In my 16 years of existence, I have never come across a verse in said book with the word "rapture". Sure, Revelations may describe the end of the world, but the four Gospels say that even Jesus, as a man on Earth, did not know when the world would end. To even begin with predicting the end of the world using math is just laughable in my opinion.

And the thing about time zones, don't we love them? In one hour, one time zone is destroyed, the hour passes and another time zone is destroyed: that seems extremely illogical. "Time" is not a concept to God, who is eternal, everlasting, the Alpha and Omega. As "time" is a measurement of moments that pass according to humans who try to "regulate" something that simply does not exist except in our perception of it passing.

The world will end, that is for sure. However, if anyone knows when it would end: that's another story. If the world ends, life is gone and everything becomes consumed by death. If the world does not, we'll all simply live to see another day.

I might write another letter to my future self when October 21st rolls around, maybe end up delaying it another month or so. What say you, my future self?
